It is the symbol for the human master the light since the emergence of laser technology。With the development of laser technology, it has been soon applied to a variety of military and civilian areas of measurement .Compared with other measurement technologies ,The Laser range have advantages for it's distance measurement , anti-interference ability, non-contact objective, measurement speed and high precision ranging .The System Error was analysised for the high-precision requirements of the project. The accuracy was improved by repeated measurements to check the average range. The program is designed based on TDC-GP2 chips for accurate time measurement function and MSP430F149 for control functions. Ranging accuracy depends mainly on the time measurement error by the program.TDC-GP2 made from ACAM company of Germany have single-measurement resolution of 65 ps . The accuracy for distance measurement is±9.8mm .The accuracy is up to±5mm by the average after measuring the distance for 100 times . It's a ideal choice for time measurement of pulse laser ranging due to it's low power consumption, high integration, and high flexibility measurements. Using TDC-GP2 instead of the traditional Separation components to design laser range's time measurement circuit for it's advantages of higher speed, higher temporal resolution and smaller error count. It play a important role in Reducing the circuit scale for more small rangefinder; reducing hardware costs,improving system reliability, flexibility, adaptability and shortening the development cycle .The hardware circuits and software algorithm of the time measurement was designed. Laser Ranging signal processing part was made up by the MCU MSP430F149 , high-precision time measurement chip TDC-GP2 and other new types of devices. In addition ,the software was debugged by IAR Embedded Workbench .
