In the project, many subsystems of complex structures can be simplified into flexible beams or plates undergoing large overall motions. The rigid-flexible coupling dynamics of thin plates is studied in this paper. The rigid-flexible coupling system is a typical multi-body flexible system. Its dynamic problem is quite different from the dynamic problem of a multi-body system. It is complicated by the coupling between the large overall rigid motion and the small elastic deformation. Based on continuum medium mechanics, the coupling terms of deformation are included in the expression of longitudinal deformation and transverse deformation. The rigid-flexible coupling equations of motion (referred as the first order approximation model) are established using assumed mode method and Lagrange's equations.The dynamics of flexible thin plate is simulated respectively when the system undergoes large overall rotation or translation. Problem of based on the modeling and analysis of the finite element software "ANSYS" and the dynamic software "ADAMS", the result of the theoretical derivation will be proved. This research shows that, the traditional hybrid coordinate model is considered as a zero order approximation model and has limits to analyze the rigid-flexible coupling dynamics. The result is not convergent with "ANSYS" or "ADAMS" when the flexible thin plate is undergoing fixed-axis rotation at high speeding. In order to describe the dynamic behavior correctly, it is necessary to establish the first order approximation model.
