And even the connotation and extension of its definition has faced many challenges. Theory research of SF as a category of art is still very scarce, and most researchers make voluminous comments from the aspects of the methods of its creating, the contents or the themes of it. For more than one hundred years, science fiction has been developing under the wing of literature, and it has been creating a large number of outstanding works by combining with some disciplines. However, it is an embarrassing contrast that, although SF has caused such great attention and influence, it hasn't established its subject status. Why science fiction, as a form of art which related to science and technology, could create such great social impact, what is the relationship between SF and science and technology, what could it bring to human and society, these are questions desire our deep exploration. . It mainly adopts the way of text analysis, beginning with the qualitative analysis, to summarize the characteristics of times of SF, its main manifestation and basic features. It also uses a large number of representative works to conduct quantitative analysis and furthermore to find its social functions. The characteristics of development of SF has been synchronizing with human attitudes towards the developing of science, which change from the early utopian belief of it because of the welfare it brings, to fear and reflection because of its ecological damage and negative effects. SF works also show the same transformation. This paper tries to reflect the strong function of SF as a combination of science and art from the perspective of philosophy of science and technology. And it hopes to call for the subject status of SF as an independent discipline from the angle of academic paper research.
