The cycle of bamboo flowering is very long and not easy to be predicted. Recently large area of F. qinlingensis have flowered in Ningshan in Shaanxi Province. It provides a good opportunity to investigate the mechanism of bamboo blooming. We try to find the cause of bamboo flowering and provide some data to predicte when F. qinlingensis will flower. We worked on the contents of carbohydrate, nitrogen and polyamines(including three free polyamines and three conjugated polyamines) of different part(including leaf, stem and whip of bamboos) at different growing phrase(including not flowering, lesser flowering, much floweing). The main results of our research as flowers:1. The contents of carbohydrate, nitrogen and the C/N ratio are different. The content of soluble sugars is the most in leaves. The contents of starch and carbohydrate content is the least in leaves. The nitrogen content is the most in leaves, the second in whips, the least in stems; The C/N ratio is is basically the most in stems, the second in whips, the least in leaves. The content of solub soluble sugars, starch and carbohydrate in three parts of bamboos are the most in not flowering bamboos, the second in lesser floweing bamboos, the least in much flowering bamboos. The contents of nitrogen is the same as the content of soluble sugars. The C/N ratio of bamboos is the most in much flowering bamboos, the second in lesser flowering bamboos, the least in not flowering bamboos.2. The contents of three free polyamines are different in different parts of bamboos. The content of free putrescine is basically the most in leaves, the second in whips, the least in stems. The content of free spermidine and spermine is basically the most in leaves. The contents of three free polyamines in leaves is the most in much flowering bamboos, the second in lesser flowering bamboos, the least in not flowering bamboos. The content of free spermidine in stems does not have significant difference among. The contents of free putrescine and spermine are all the least in not flowering bamboos, but they does not have significant difference mong much, lesser and not flowering bamboos. The content of free spermidine and spermine in whips is the most in much flowering bamboos, the second in lesser flowering bamboos, the least in not flowering bamboos. The contents of free putrescine is the most in much flowering bamboos, they dose not have significant difference between lesser and nont flowering bamboos.3. The contents of three conjugated polyamines have significant difference among three parts of bamboos. We can not detect three polyamines in stems. In leaves and whips we can only detect conjugated putrescine and spermidine and their content is much lower than free polyamines. The contents of conjugated putrescine and spermidine in leaves is higher than in whips. The content of conjugated putrescine is the most in much flowering bamboos, the second in lesser flowering bamboos, the least in not flowering bamboos. The content of conjugated spermidine is very low in leaves and whips, and they does not have significant difference among much, lesser and not flowering bamboos.
