Catalytic Distillation Packing Type Solid Base Catalyst Preparation

Catalytic distillation is a new technology that combines reaction and distillation in a single column. However, up to now, most of publications focused mainly on the applications of catalytic distillation, and there have a few publications focused on the catalyst for catalytic distillation.So far, the main catalysts for catalytic distillation are solid acid and solid alkali catalysts for industrial application, Therefore, the research and preparation of a novel solid base catalyst for catalytic distillation is very important. The aim of this paper is to develop a novel structured solid alkali catalyst packings for catalytic distillation.A novel solid alkali MgO/Al2O3-Al catalyst for catalytic distillation was prepared by impregnation of anodized aluminium plates formed by anodic oxidation of high-purity aluminium foils with aqueous Mg(NO3)2. The catalyst was active for the aldol condensation of acetone and had good stability. The influences of the preparing condition of catalysts on the catalytic performance were studied. The results showed that the most favorable preparing conditions were:calcination temperature is 550℃, Mg (NO3) 2 concentration is 2.0%, calcination time is 4.0h, Mg (NO3) 2 impregnation temperature is 55℃, stirring time is 1.Oh, standing time is 1.Oh; reaction time is 90min; the amount of catalyst is 3.0g.The catalyst samples were characterized by BET, XRD and CO2-TPD. XRD results showed that the structure of the catalyst was unchanged, and MgO was well dispersed on Al2O3-Al porous anodic alumina films and the solid alkali catalyst had a weak alkali site, moderate alkali sites, and strong alkali site.
