Low Pressure Casting, as a near-net forming technology, has been widely used in aviation, aerospace, transportation and other fields, and it is significant for weight light of vehicles that its'application in the automotive components. The low pressure casting plays a vital role in the performance of final casting product, therefore, more and more researchers concerned about effects of casting technology to the filling and solidification in the Low Pressure Casting processing. With developing of the computer simulation technology. The use of numerical simulation technology on the traditional casting process improvements and optimization has become the development trend of casting technology.The present paper, based on the casting simulation software ProCAST, the small-size thin-walled A356 aluminum alloy product was taken as the object to simulate casting processing under a variety of casting technology programs, the effects of the filling velocity, compression velocity, casting temperature and die temperature to the filling processing were analyzed. By comparing the simulation results, the feasible casting process was obtained and a complete small-size thin-walled aluminum alloy product has been produced. The casting process of thin-walled A356 aluminum alloy product in big size was simulated, and the effects of casting pressure and casting temperature on the filling and solidification processing were analyzed.The results indicate that the numerical simulation can accurately predict the filling and solidification processing, and the flaws arising in the casting processing can be located by the prediction of numerical simulation, which can realize the optimization of casting technology of the thin-wall product and improve the quality of casting product. In addition, it provides the direction for low pressure casting of thin-walled aluminum alloy product in big size.
