The hollow spherical Be rotor is the core part of the Electrostatic SuspendedGyroscope, its quality directly affects the precision of the Electrostatic SuspendedGyroscope. The most important quality is maintaining good round ball in high speedrotate and static. Lapping is an effective method of rotor machining and the four shaftsball-lapping machine is a kind of processing method to get the precision ball.The mechanism, lapping condition and kinematics characteristic of four shafts ball-lapping machine are studied. After the research on the abrasion traces with the coordinatetransformation method, the lapping equations in six situations have been simulated byMatlab. The result shows that the trace covers the ball uniformly. It proves that the fourshafts ball-lapping machine can achieve condition that cutting in equal probability. Thenmake the distance between two points as an evaluation standard of uniformity.Based on the Preston equation, the amount of material removal of the differentpoints on the surface when the lapper rotate for a week has been researched. And theresults were simulated by Matlab in24different working situation. The standarddeviation of amount of removal as the uniformity evaluation standard, the uniformities ofa single lapper and all the four lappers have been studied. The result shows that materialremove amount under the common action is36percent of in a single lapping tool.Then study the deformation of the cross section can obtain the deformation of therotor. The finite element analysis show that with the increasing speed the deformationdue to the centrifugal effect become bigger an bigger, especially in the equator and thepoles. Based on the deformation of the curve, design a kind of new curve. The analysisshow that the new shape can produce more uniform deformation.Long hollow spherical rotor design is based on elastic mechanics theory of thin shell.Calculate the relationship of curvature radius,speed and materials from any point on thelong ball surface based on deformation calculation equation. In theory, the long sphericalrotor guarantees the rotor be ideal spherical surface under the action of centrifugal force.
