Polyamide6(PA6) fibers. Due to its high break strength and good abrasion resistance, it iswidely used in such as the clothing, carpet decoration and other fields. Especially, PA6fibersoccupy a large market share, and develop very fast in those as underwear, safety belt, parachute, cord fabrics, car-interior textile and et al market. Functional modification particularlymulti-functional modification will greatly increased the value and application of general PA6fibers, and it is also the common and important problem of industry for the moment.Blending method is a common modification method for polymers, which is more suitable forindustrial production because of simple operation, low cost and making a range of products bychanging the blending ratio. In this paper the UV resistant and antibacterial PA6fibers weredeveloped by melt blending. The different surface modified rutile nanometer TiO[Sf]2(TiO2) was used as the functionaladditives in developing the UV resistant and antibacterial PA6fibers through melt blending. Theresult as follows (1)The surface modification had no influence on the crystal morphology and theUV absorption of TiO[OSf]2particles.(2)The organic surface modified rutile nanometer TiO2(TiO2)had the best compatibility and dispersivity with polyamide6.(3)The TiO[OSf]2/PA6fibers had bestUV resistance. When the addition is2wt%, the TiO[OSf]2/PA6fibers can be guaranteed as UVresistant, and the UV resistance increased as the addition increased.(4)By only added TiO[Sf]2asthe functional additives the fibers couldn’t be guaranteed as the antibacterial fibers according toChinese standard.Using the silver along with the organic surface modified rutile nanometer TiO[2(Ag]Ti) as thefunctional additives to develop UV resistant and antibacterial PA6fibers through melt blending. The result as follows (1)The small mount addition of silver had no influence on the crystalmorphology of TiO2particles.(2)The silver within Ag/TiO2could improve the photocatalyticactivity of TiO2and also Ag could act as the electron traps aiding electron-hole separation, and also facilitated electron excitation by creating a local electric field, then in return it could sharplyenhance the UV absorption of TiO2nanoparticles.(3)For the same addition of TiO[OSf]2vs Ag/TiO2,PA6fibers contained Ag/TiO[OSf]2can greatly enhanced UV resistance as UPF value increasedover10, and the UV resistance increased as the addition increased.(4)According to Chinesestandard,[Ag]Ti/PA6fibers is antibacterial, when the addition is2wt%, the antibacterial rate is99.9%.
