After reviewing the progress in the production and application of acrylonitrile-butadiene rubber (NBR), a systematical optimization has been carried out for its key production technology, focused on the issues in the practical applications of NBR.The production technology optimizing experiments were conducted by studying the effects of monomers ratio, initiating system, emulsifier, regulator, water-oil ratio. Under appropriate reaction temperature and a good synergistic effect, the conversion and the copolymer composition could be efficiently controlled. The fluctuation range of the products’Mooney viscosity could be narrowed to less than ± 3. Furthermore, the performance of NBR can be further improved by the optimization of the agglomeration, washing and other post-processing techniques.The product NBR2906 with high performance was successfully produced by using the optimizing technology. The optimization in production technology could not only be used for the manufacturing the high-performance NBR, but also provide idea for other new products.
