Color Expression And Technique Realization Of Gemstone Material In Jewelry Design

Along the long journey of jewelry design, the use of precious gem materials has played an important part in the field of jewelry design. the issue of how to coordinate material and color of gem with appropriate inlaid method, has always been the focus of jewelry design. Only by making full use of gems and precious stones, precious stones and metal materials, as well as perfect collocation of different techniques, can we reach the expected effect.This paper is a combination of graphs and texts, and the author adopts part of the previous research results on the study of color of gem materials and jewelry inlaid techniques. This paper is divided into seven chapters to explore the color of jewelry design in gem materials and the realization of techniques. In this paper, aesthetic analysis of the color of jewelry design is firstly discussed from three aspects as color proportion, color rhythm and color types. In the next part, features of different colors and the limitations of gem materials are illustrated. For the third part, which is the an important part of the paper, perfect performance of the processing technology and the color design of jewelry is analyzed according to gem cutting’s influence to color as well as the choice of gem particles and technique realization. The fourth part is about the collocation and color realization of colored gemstones and other materials, and the collocation of diversified gemstones in modern jewelry design is analyzed with special attentions, from which five aspects are divided for explanation, including the collocation of colored gemstones and colored metal, colored gemstones and pearls, colored gemstones and mineral raw gemstones, between colored gemstones and ceramics, and colored gemstones and non-traditional materials. The fifth part, colors and technique characteristics of different jewelry series are analyzed in details from three aspects of commercial jewelry, art jewelry and fashion jewelry and finally, differences in color features and technique features among these three different jewelry types are also analyzed. In the last chapter, Color expression and technique realization of gemstone materials are explained according to the author’s practice.
