Hot stamping technology is seen as an important way to lightweight the materials. As an advancing method of processing, it significantly expands the applications of the high-strength and ultra-high-strength steel in the automotive field and it has a broad prospects and great potential. Therefore, a new type and practical thermoforming mold system was designed, and the application of hot forming technology was researched in this study.Currently, much mold design about the thermoforming was studied, but most focus on the study of the cooling system, while the new heating method of research is rarely disscussed. There are many disadvantages about conventional heating methods. The binder and die were redesigned in this study on the basis of existing of KOMATSU H1F-60 servo presses and dress drawing test common mold in laboratory, in order to apply the electromagnetic induction heating technology inside the stamping mold. The equipment required by this technology is simpler than electric heating device. In order to design efficiency, thermal equilibrium of the blank and the mold in the stamping process was simulated in the early time using ANSYS. After that, thermoforming systems was built based on the servo press sheet metal forming performance test systems, and sheet drawing experiments was conducted using 22 Mn B5.ANSYS-Icepack was used to analysis the mould heating for sheet metal forming. Simulation results show that while heating the upper and lower mold by using heat source of 1000 W simultaneously, the maximum temperature on the mould can reach about 400℃;the sheet can be heated to above 300℃; and the process of cooling and heating reaches equilibrium at ten minutes later. Temperature distribution of the actual heating system designed according to the model was close to the simulation results.Hot & common stamping processes of 22 Mn B5 with 0.8mm thichness were comparatively studied based on this new system. We keep the forming temperature’s different, while the press parameters same(the speed was 454.8mm/s and the binder force is 60KN).The result is absolutely different.when the BHF and cold all broken; when the temperature rises to 350℃, can be drawn forming, which proved that the temperature influence the forming property of high strength steel, and the feasibility of the system.The new thermoforming system- the electromagnetic induction heating mold forming system, improved the equipment utilization, and provide a new way to improve the quality of high-strength steel and difficulty forming material.The design of heating module in mould was simulated and experimented preliminary, which will help the development of the sheet hot forming technology.
