In recent years, people pay more and more attention to indoor environment pollution.80 percent of the decoration materials contain a large amount of volatile organic hazardous substances in the market, such as plywood, one of the most common board or base material. Volatile organic compounds (VOC) from man-made board are often measured with traditional climate box method in the required temperature, relative humidity and air exchange rate. And the stable value of VOC concentration is used as the final test results, bhis method needs a certain amount of time and special equipment. In order to reduce the testing cost, enhance reliability of VOC, improve product environmental level and work efficiency of researchers, this paper studied a new method of rapid detection of VOC. The test results were compared and evaluated between rapid detection method and traditional climate box method. At the same time, this paper evaluated the effect of common decorative materials on indoor air pollution which can improve the project scheme and reduce pollution. In this paper, the author tested the main components and analyzed the release rule of VOC from three-layer structure of plywood and three-layer parquet. The results were listed as followed:(1) The Rapid detection device was designed reasonably and the test cycle was faster than the traditional method about two times. In the result of new method, the species of test were consistent with traditional climate box method. Compared with the traditional method, the new method was more reliable and easier to operate.(2) Environmental factors had heavy effect on TVOC release from plywood. Under equilibrium conditions, with the increase of the ratio of air exchange rate and loading factor, the concentration of TVOC reduced. But, it would increase with temperature and relative humidity rising. Under different environmental conditions, the compositions of TVOC released from boards varied slightly in equilibrium. Meanwhile, when temperature was higher, the influence of relative humidity on VOC was not obvious under the condition of equilibrium(3) VOC composition released from three-layer parquet was detected by a micro extraction apparatus, which were similar to the traditional climate chamber. The main components were esters and aromatic hydrocarbons. In contrast to hydrocarbon, the mass concentration of alkane was more than others, but the kinds were less. At the same time, the board would also release a small amount of aldehyde ketone compounds. But there was a small amount of esters from three-layer parquet. The main components of VOC from plywood were alkanes and aromatic hydrocarbons, and the emission value was less than that from three-layer parquet. Esters and aromatic hydrocarbons were mainly derived from organic solvent used on the surface working process of plywood. So environmental protection coating was suggested.(4) By compared with the data from traditional climate box, the author found the trend of VOC release was basically consistent and the kind of detectable substance was same. But in the early phrase, TVOC value of rapid detection method is higher than that from traditional climate box. The mass concentration of TVOC from plywood reached a stable value after 168h. And the three-layer parquet would spend 216h which showed that the speed was significantly faster than traditional method.(5) 1m3 climate box was adopted to simulate the indoor environment for analyzing the release of VOC. In the first 7 days, plywood released a large amount of hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons and TVOC. With the prolonging of the release time, VOC substances decreased clearly until the 14th day. The three-layer structure plywood studied in this paper had a more ideal influence evaluation result for indoor environment. But in the first three days, the level of VOC released from three-layer parquet reached the three levels standards in indoor air quality which belonged to the light pollution. However, the 7th and 14th days had the same results, the release levels conformed to the indoor air quality secondary standard. The final results showed that indoor air is not contaminated and the indoor air is clean after 21 days.
