Mountainous region which is ups and downs varies greatly is created by specific location and daedal topography of southwest mountain area in China. Due to inhomogeneous load and coal seam buried depth changed greatly, the characteristics of mining pressure and roof movement has new features. Those have the adverse effect on the safety and efficient exploitation of coal mining. Taking Anshun coal mine 9100 working face as basic research object, field investigation and actual measurement, numerical simulation and theoretical analysis are used in order to systemic research on mining pressure and roof movement in mountainous coal seam mining. The main research results are as follows:(1) Based on a large number of field investigations and literature references,mountainous coal seam occurrence classification guidance system is established, it provided research working foundations for mining face mining pressure under different occurrence. Based on the results of field measurement and numerical simulation, the characteristics of mining pressure, roof movement, slope movement and mining subsidence are researched, the four stages of roof breaking process are concluded.(2) Through the establishment of multi group numerical model, influence factors and influence laws of roof movement is analyzed, the relationship between the coal seam thickness, buried depth of coal seam, the slope angle and the movement of overlying strata structure is researched dialectically. The coal seam thickness, buried depth of coal seam is the main factor affecting the formation and the transformation of roof movement structure.(3) The roof stress type and basic roof fracture stress is analyzed by using mining pressure theories and mechanics theories. The basic roof fracture length is deduced.According to structural mechanics and material mechanics, the structure mechanics model of basic roof first weighing and periodic weighting is established, and the mechanical stress of structure is analyzed.(4) According to existing research results, the interaction between support and surrounding rock is analyzed according to the "given deformation" and "limit deformation" project. Using different support strength calculation program,reasonable and effective support working resistance is achieved.
