Prior to projecting a proposed coal mine, the preliminary design of mine and the operation of uncovering coal, the coal and gas outburst risk assessments of the coal seam must be completed. Due to the affecting factors of the outburst are numerous and reason of the outburst is complicated, at present, the main assessment and prevention of the coal and gas outburst are based on the empirical data and some parameters of coal seam. Because of lacking the data of the gas of the mine, it’s difficult to assess the risk of the coal and gas outburst of the proposed coal mine. To a proposed coal mine, the reference data is only the gas data of the geological exploration and the near mine. And the poor accuracy of the geological exploration data and the uncertain difference of near mine data have determind the difficult of the assessment of the coal and gas outburst of the proposed mine.The engineering and the scientific research practice were combined in this paper. Through the computing of measurement of the field data and the analysis of the laboratory data of multicomponent gas adsorption and desorption law, the conclusion that the analysis composition and concentration of the coal seam gas must be paid enough attention when the coal seam gas pressure is measured by the indirect method was drew. Otherwise there may be a big deviation between the result and the actual situation. By screening,selecting and correcting the data of gas geological for the assessment, the data of near coal mine gas was used to validate the accuracy of the assessment.At the same time,based on the analysis of characteristics of the coal and gas outburst, select the prediction index of coal and gas outburst of Yaojiashan mine. Analyze the weights of each index by themethod of analytic hierarchy process(AHP). The threshold of gas content and gas pressure of Yaojiashan mine was determined by the experimental study. According to the prediction index of coal and gas outburst of Yaojiashan mine, the weights of each index and the threshold of gas content and gas pressure, the prediction of the assessment of the risk of coal and gas outburst of the 5# seam of the Yaojiashan mine is completed.By using the method of cross validation to validate the data of the field, it is concluded that the kriging interpolation method is the best interpolation method. Draw isoline map of gas content and gas pressure by using Surfer software, which combines the gas content and pressure gradient. According to the analysis of the isoline map of gas content and gas pressure, the danger zone of coal and gas outburst and gas occurrence regularity of distribution of the 5# coal seam of Yaojiashan mine were concluded.
