HEWL is one kind of nomonomeric globular basic protein, which can exist stably under acid condition. However, when heated to the certain temperature, the sructure of the protein can change to mesh crisscross nanofibers. HEWL has drawn increased attention from research coummunity owing to their critical advantages. There are many reports about HEWL fibrils. At present, few reports illustrate the fabrication of metal nanomaterials utilizing HEWL fibrils as biotemplate. This paper mainly shows the synthesis of metal nanoparticle chains using HEWL fiber as biotemplate, including platinum nanoparticle chains、rhodinol nanoparticle chains and gold nanoparticle chains. The samples were analyzed through characterization methods of TEM, UV, EDS, SAED, XRD and CV. The details and results are summarized as follows: 1. The morphologies of HEWL and HEWL fibrils were characterized by TEM.2. Explored the optimal conditions of preparation of rhodium nanoparticle chain through control-experiments. When fibrosis time was four days, rhodium nanoparticle chains have two morphologies. One is inline HEWL fibrils with the diameter of approximately 30 nm. One is full of HEWL fibrils with the diameter of 40 nm. When fibrosis time was three days, the dameter of rhodium nanoparticle chains was about 13 nm.The catalytic property of rhodium nanoparticle chain was recored by cyclic voltammetric curve. 3. The optimal conditions of fabricating platinum nanoparticles chains were determined through the control experiments of HEWL fibrosis-time and p H. And elaborated the polycrystalline nature of platinum nanoparticles chains by EDS and SAED. 4. Prepared large number of gold nanoparticles chains successfully. Investigated the conditions effect on gold nanoparticles chains, including the different concentrations of egg white lysozyme fibrils, p H and the quantity chloroauric acid. This work also investigated the conditions of fibrosis-time and with the heating at the last stage, the results of which indicated the best fibrosis-time is 76 h and without heating at the last stage.The biocompatibility of gold nanoparticles chains was recored by MTT test. The results indicate gold nanoparticles chains have good biocompatibility. Gold nanoparticle chains have great potentiality as medicinal agents due to good biocompatibility.
