Because of the exellent properties of carbon fibre reinforced polymer(CFRP), nowadays this new material is widely used in civil industry to reconstruct, reinforce and construct constructions. However, the performance of these structures are always degraded subjecting to harsh surroundings such as high temperature, wet environment, UV-light, moisture absorption and desorption so the long-term behaviour of FRP material is significant for the its application in civil engineering. In terms of CFRP-plates reinforced concrete, CFRP plates are covered by adhesive to bond with concrete which can prevent the CFRP-plates from diffusate-corrosion. This can result in possitive effect on the durability performance. The research on CFRP-plates without the consideration of adhesive may lead to wrong result so the behaviour of CFRP plates applied in this condition will be investigated to simulate more true environment. It is found that the speed of water diffusion increased with the higher temperature. Campared with samples aged in distilled water samples aged in alkaline solution absorbed more water. The hydrolysis reaction is found in the behaviour of the plates aged at 60 oC alkaline solution. The water uptake of CFRP-plates covered by adhesive is less than the other aged samples. The water diffusion procedure is simulated by Abaqus and the numerical reslute fits experimental data well. The variation of tensile property deteriorates slowly, but the interlaminar shear strength decreases seriously. The tensile strength and interlaminar shear strength of CFRP-plates aged at 60 oC alkaline solution for 90 days declines 18.5% and 48.8% respectively. In terms of samples covered by adhesive the tensile strength decreases slightly but the interlaminar shear strength of plates decreases seriously(29.1% in water and 32.8% in alkaline solution).
