Since the founding of the PRC, Metallurgical industry plays an important role in the development of our national economy., especially the rapid development of 30 years of reform and opening-up. After the rapid development of 30 years of reform and opening up, China has become the a large iron and steel country all over the world, but not a powerful iron and steel country in the world. Many technical and economic indicators in our country still lag behind the developed countries. The rapid development of modern automation technology provides a powerful means for reducing costs, increasing benefits and improving the technical and economic indexes and scientific management level for enterprises.The modern automation technology is focus on the computer. It is the multilevel complex control system including PLC/DCS, conventional equipment, intelligent instrumentation, intelligent actuators, bus system, operator station, engineer station and so on. Each level of task processes clearly.In view of the present situation that the air of the blast furnace blower is wrong off frequently in the Xinyu Iron and Steel Co., Ltd, which has caused bigger effect on iron making cost, labor intensity and restricted even the whole production process of the enterprise. A research about the application of air control automatic development of blast furnace blower is carried out.Tracking domestic and foreign advanced technology, combing with the reality of the Xinyu Iron and Steel Co., Ltd. the advanced and reliable blast volume measurement device, blast pressure detection in intelligent transmitter, pneumatic quick-open valve, electric control valve and other equipment were used as the measurement and control instruments for collecting data, a test method was used for finding out a series of key data. It provided a solid foundation for the realization of control system. With the analysis of blast furnace smelting technology and blast blower control, based on optimizing and testing the time of the air intake, blast volume and pneumatic quick-open valve, we completed scheme design about the air intake automation control, hardware selection, software development and debugging. Based on the realization of the "air intake permission" function, using Siemens S7-300PLC and Wincc configuration software, we designed and realized the fuctions such as automatic/ manual interaction control, air intake automatic when tripping, air intake manual, air intake for maintenance. We also realized when blower accident happened, the blowers in the blast furnace could air intake automatic to ensure that both blast furnace in accident and in air intake status have not irrigation slag.The purpose and significance of this paper lies in solving the key problems in enterprise’s production through independent innovation by using the automatic control technology, and enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises and benefit. Also it can provide a very good use for reference to solve the other problem in enterprises with automatic control technology.
