The paper first introduces the development of Electronic Magnetic Rivet (EMR), and point out the disadvantages of equipment compared with the foreign ones. Then it speaks of the benefit of EMR. The theory part of the paper introduces the physic and mathematic model. According to the theory, the loading rate of EMR is very high. So the author researches the loading rate's influences to the material's deforming. Then the paper tells the means of how to adjust the loading rate of EMR. Through noise test and comparison with the ISO noise standard, the author concludes that EMR is a kind of low noise equipment. To develop new EMR guns, we must take 2 factors into consideration, one is to develop a new type of coil, the other is to improve the recoil system. The new coil has a hole to induct depressed air to cool it, which will enhance the efficiency of EMR. Replacing one layer recoil system with two layers ones, the recoil force is decreased considerable. It makes the guns to use easily. In the design of the new gun, the author employs several solutions to decrease the rivet noise. To design the low voltage EMR, the choice of the cap is very important. According to the theory and the fact, the author selects the suitable cap and necessary cap quantity. The paper also gives the diagram of the control system of low voltage EMR. The author used EMR to rivet two kind of titanium rivet, TB2-1 and NSNA2OI9. And he took the photomicrograghs. Through analyzing the photo, the paper gives the parameters of using EMR on this two titanium rivet.
