First, the intensifier of abrasive waterjet cutting machine is analyzed in this dissertation. The fluctuations of the pressure signals generated by a standard double-acting intensifier are analyzed, then the paper describes the principle of a phased intensifier, and the advantages of phased intensifier are listed.Through the further analysis on the flow chart of phased intensifier's working states, the control system of a phased intensifier is designed based on PLC, which can control the two individual pistons in the phased intensifier to move back and forth repeatedly in precise cycle. The controlling program for PLC and its function are given.On the other hand, a new model for abrasive waterjet cutting is established based on the analysis of the mechanism of abrasive waterjet cutting. This two dimensional model can apply to ductile-behaving metallic materials. In the model, the depth of cutting wear area and the depth of deformation wear area are calculated respectively, and the total cutting depth is the sum of the two depths.Finally, a program that can calculate the depth of abrasive waterjet cutting is designed based on the new model. 2D and 3D figures illustrating the relation between the cutting depth and several important cutting parameters are created using the calculated data. Then the analysis on these data is processed.
