Soft contact electromagnetic continuous casting is a new type method for continuous casting technique which main used in the cast of steel and have been developed greatly now. It is a new thought to apply this method in the shaping process of Aluminum alloy by which not only the high quality ingot with high surface and inner quality can be obtained but also the casting speed will be improved. In this paper, the study on the electromagnetic continuous casting process of Aluminum alloy round billet as follows have been carried out.The distribution of the magnetic field in continuous casting mold was measured. The distribution rule of the magnetic in different conditions and the condition of shaping were researched.The technique process of the electromagnetic continuous casting of Aluminum alloy round billet was studied in details. The rational technique parameters such as the position of the liquid column surface, pouring temperature, cooling water strength and the casting speed were obtained by lots of experiments.The Joule heating will heat up the molten metal and influence the temperature field of ingot obviously. It is very important to predict the amount and the distribution of Joule heating. According to the experimental analyses of temperature distribution in the Al ingot, the induced thermal profile in horizontal and vertical direction was studied. The influence of the supply power on the thermal distribution of ingot is also analyzed. Finally, the power of the Joule heating was calculated and incorporated into the procedure of the temperature field.In order to research the heat transport and solidification in electromagnetic continuous casting process numerical simulation is an efficient tool. In this paper a mathematical model was described, and the effect of some key technique parameters on the setting rate have been simulated and discussed to provide guides in optimizing design of the technique parameters.
