In this article, a cathode material LiCoO2 for the layered structure lithium ion batteries has been synthesized by the Sol-gel technique. A nanometer-scale materialNi3O2(OH)4 with mixed valences of +2 and +3 has been used for raw reaction material to prepare a layered cathode material LiNiO2, which has been a excellent substitute for LiCoO2. Accordingly , a series of materials of highly stoichiometric LiCoi-xNixO2(O
