Laser is a high-technology and new technology, which has been rapidly developed in recent years. It has formed a new industry full of vigor. Meanwhile, laser accelerates and raises deeply in many correlative subjects, techniques, productivities, etc. Consequently, laser processing industry has been appeared based on above-mentioned background. It consists of laser punching, laser cutting, laser welding, laser heat-treatment, laser drawing sign, laser tiny-processing, laser alloying and laser cladding, etc. For the latter, it has been regarded as so important fields in laser processing industry of material surface strengthening, laser re-fabricating, laser repairing. Among these, laser three-dimensional shaping is a new research hot spot.Powder feed unit is the key to laser cladding . When laser cladding enlarges and penetrates into our industry , more better special equipments need to be designed and produced in suiting for this special technology, also the powder feed unit. However, not much work is done, no other powder feed units can solve powder the powder transport problem of superfine powder type in present. For this reason, a new powder feed unit with carrying gas has been developed for perfecting laser cladding occasions, alloy powder is transported through powder wheel extraction with carrying gas, its special airproof antrum is filled with carrying gas for the air pressure balance.Firstly, this paper discusses the applying situations of laser processing.Secondly, we expound the features of laser cladding also its many problems in applying courses. We put forward a new idea that a mathematics model is set up to dispose of the complicated techniques problems of laser cladding by powder feeding. We also study the system and features of the alloy powder which are applied in these laser processing fields at present.Thirdly, we especially emphasize on analysising the powder transport principle according to our equipment. We study powder particles' special movement law in the powder dropping tune which is key to powder transport with carrying gas.Fourthly, novel ideas are adopted in realizing the powder transport problem ofsuperfine powder type evenly and closely in present.Finally, Lots of tests of powder transport with carrying gas based on Ni02C(60^ WC, Al2O3-Cr2O3,which are three different material property superfine powder have been done for evaluating this device. It is shown that it can solve the powder transport problem of superfine powder type, and good laser pass have been made according to the laser cladding experiments.We study how the different air velocity against the powder use efficiency, and the effect how the air affects the precision of the two powder transport under different powder aperture, also the influence of the powder fluent velocity and powder transport precision under the different wheel rotation velocity.Through these work, we get the important trial data, so we can define the scientific performances of our equipment. Also, we obtain good melt-solidifying layer of laser cladding based on normal laser processing conditions and study these laser cladding layer tissue of samples.
