The slug containing cobalt and zinc is a very valuable resource which is produced in the process of zinc refining.To utilize the slug,we put forward the oxidation-precipitation flow. Some important aspects involving in the new process have been investigated. On the basis of the thermodynamic calculation, the graphes of potential pH in the solution of cobalt-H2O was protracted;the vivid degree of zinc and the pH in high temperature solution at which zinc could precipitate was investigated. An investigation has been done on the decomposing kinetics of Na2S2O8. The decomposition reaction is a second reaction, the activate energy is 97.42KJ/mol, the control step is chemical reaction. The oxiding kinetics of CoSO4 was inspected. The oxidation reaction is a first reaction, the activate energy is 156.14KJ/mol,and the control step is the chemical reaction. On the basis of oxiding kinetics, the factors such as temperature, time , pH ,the concentration of Na2S2O8 and the flocculant which influence the rate of deposition were investigated;the better flow conditions are: reacting time-2.0 hour, temperature-353K, method of adding solution-adding Na2S2O8 into CoSO4 solution, concentration of Na2S2O8-0.05mol/L, pH-4.0, additive-0.05%PAA. The flocculantcould accelerate the reaction velocity. The ultrasonic c ould accelerating the reacting velocity and the crystal of Co(OH)3.The cobalt concentration under 3mg/L in the condition of reacting time 3.5 hour, temperature 353K, concentration of Na2S2O8: 0.05mol/L, pH 4.0, additive: 0.05%PAA.
