| The submersible pump is a multi-staged centrifugal pump, which consists of impellers and vaned diffusers. It is difficult to design this pump using traditional method, because its size is small and the flow in the channels of this kind of centrifugal pump is very complex. With the developing of the numerical technology and computer these years, some 3D viscous CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) softwares are used in centrifugal pump to analyze the internal flow. It is a new method for designing centrifugal pump. In this paper, the 3D turbulent flow of two kinds of centrifugal pump is simulated based on Reynolds Averaged Navier-Stokes equations and standard k-ε turbulent mode.The flow field in the impeller and vaned diffuser of two kinds of centrifugal pump are investigated using FLUENT and GAMBIT, a commercial available CFD code. As results, lots of internal flow flied of a centrifugal impeller and vaned diffuser under three different operating conditions are obtained.A detailed analysis of the simulation results at design load and several off-design conditions is presented. At design load simulation reveals a well-behaved flow field without significant separation. At off-design load the flow field are significant different, hence the pump efficiency is low. Many important phenomena of the flow are observed from the simulation results, such as large eddy flow. The overall performance curves of the pump obtained by numerical simulation are compared with the experimental data. They have good coincidence.The simulation results provide important theoretical basis for investigating the factors, which affect the efficiency of centrifugal pump. This can help to improve the design of impellers and diffusers to achieve a high efficiency and wide operating range. |
