Hydrogen is a kind of precious and clean energy resource, which is not only the side product produced in oil refinery and petrochemical process but also the important and necessary raw material in petrochemical industry. In recent years, with the worsening of supply and demand of hydrogen resource, it's significantly necessary to carry out the research of its optimal utilization. Based on the project of Shengli Oil Refinery of Qilu Petrochemical Corp. SINPEC, the contents of this paper is as fo11ows:1.A detailed investigation on the hydrogen resource is necessary to carry out the analysis of hydrogen balance. This paper develops the analysis of hydrogen balance in Shengli Oil Refinery of Qilu Petrochemical Corp., which is the basis of hydrogen optimization.2. Based on the datum of hydrogen resource collected from Shengli Oi l Refinery of Oi lu Petrochemical Corp., this paper carry out the analysis on the network of hydrogen utilization by the method of pinch analysis. And then, the minimum target of hydrogen consumption is obtained. Finally this paper brings out the projects of hydrogen recovery.3. Put emphasis on the modeling optimization of VRDS in Shengli Oil Refinery of Qilu Petrochemical Corp. . The model ing optimization requires forming the correlative model of the equipments for hydrogen producing and consumption, which helps to find out the key factors of affecting the hydrogen consumption and further reduce the consumption of hydrogen resource. Therefore, the efficiency of hydrogen utilization is improved.4. The figure about the optimal network of hydrogen utilization is obta i ned. And a I so the comparative analysis of the result obtained before and after the optimization is carried out. Finally, this paper points out the directions of further research.
