The thesis was focused on the effect of reactive condition on emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization and on the effect of properties of reactive surfactant on emulsion polymerization and properties of emulsion. Its research objects were MMA/BA and reactive surfactant(AGES, AMPS, V5127 and R109) and its analytic methods were particle size analysis, contact angles and scan electromirror(TEM).The emulsifier-free latexes of MMA/BA/AGES, MMA/BA/AMPS, MMA/BA/V5127 and MMA/BA/R109 on different ratio of reactive surfactants and different polymerizable condition were synthesized resprectively. Then we analyzed the character, stability, particle size of the latexes, the contact angles between films of latexes and water and the shape of latexes. There were many effects on MMA/BA emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization and its properties because of the difference of reactive surfactants. The particle size of latexes by anionic reactive surfactant was smaller than it by nonionic one. We obtained narrowranged and big particle size by using AGES which had the stability of double electricity layer by anion and of hydration by nonion. We couldn't obtain stable emulsifier-free emulsion by interim technique when the homopolymerizable ability of reactive surfactant was better than the compolymerizable of it. Only when the copolymerizable ability was good we can obtain stable emulsion through different polymeizable techniques. We could obtain stable emulsifier-free emulsion when the content of reactive surfactants was from 3% to 8%. The particle size increased at first and then decreased at last when the content of reactive surfactants increased. The particle size was smallest and all kinds of properties were excellent when the content was 5%.The particle size of latexes was big when the main nucleation was homogeneous because of the smaller content of reactive surfactant inreactive system than critical micelle concentration. When the nucleation was homogeneous and oligomeic micelles because of the bigger content of reactive surfactant in reactive system, we could obtain the smaller particle size of latexes. So the changes of the mechanism of nucleation would effect notably on the particle size of latexes. We designed a new analysis method to measure the content of surface -SO3- and -SO3- in polymer so we could know the degree of copolymerization between the monomer and the reactive surfactant. There were three stages in the course of reaction: accelerated, constant rate and decelerated stages. A large number of AGES copolymerized on MMA in nucleation stage and then the rate of copolymerization decreased.
