Hemp fiber has the advantages of fineness, no itching sensation, good absorption, air permeability, shielding radiation and bacterial inhibition. So it is appreciated by consumers and is also regarded as the most prospective cellulosic fibre in the future by many experts.Compared with ramie and flax, hemp fiber has high-content gum which amounts to 40% of the fiber weight. So the difficulty of degumming is increased, while the degree of degumming will affect the spinning, weaving and finishing. Especially in these days, the requirements of hemp products have converted from rugged, novelty to finer and comfortable. So the imperfect degumming process is faced more challenge. To make a comprehensive survey, there are three methods for hemp degumming: natural fermentation, chemical degumming and biological degumming. The natural fermentation has many disadvantages such as long processing time, much dependence on the circumstance and not having much quality assurance. Chemical degumming often needs the processes of degumming and bleaching in two steps or more, which has the disadvantages of long processing line and time, high-cost and consumption. Though the biological degumming has little energy consumption, the degumming is incomplete which needs secondary chemical degumming.In this study, the mechanical degumming method is choosed. This method will not produce the wastewater and waste air, so it is green and environment protecting. Moreover it saves time and is easy to be carried out. In fact, this study will provide the related theory and data for its application in industry.The subject of this paper is as follows.1. Analyzing the state of gums under the different kinds of loads on the basis of hemp as unidirectional fiber reinforced composite material.2. Analyzing the character of moving and dynamical character about roller, and the character of bearing loads about hemp during the course of rolling.3. Establishing the right mechanical model to explain the relationship between the modulus and the load.4. Introducing the design of new device for mechanical degumming method.Finally we get the following conclusions:1. Raw hemp is composed of hemp fibers and gum.
