Monocyclic ¦Â-lactam Antibiotic Aztreonam Synthesis And Study

Aztreonam is the first clinic used drug of a new class of β -lactam antibiotics known as monobactams . The drug is active against the majority of gram-negative bacteria and has been used successfully in combination with other antibiotics in the treatment of endometritis , cuff cellulites , and pelvic inflammatory disease and as a single agent for the treatment of acute pyelonephritis .Common side effects of aztreonam are pain and phlebitis at the injection site , mild gastrointestinal disturbances , and skin rash .Cross-reactivity with penicillins and cephalosporin are rare.Being short of aztreonam' s raw material inland , we referencedliterature and aztreonam was synthesized as follows : aztreonam was prepared by the esterfication of the side chain of oximation , followed by the attachment of beta-lactam and the removal of the protecting group using TFA .Simultaneity , reaction conditions were investigated.The structure of the compound synthesized have been confirmed by IR, UV, ¹H-NMR, ¹³C-NMR, HMS.The properties of the compound such as solubility ,optical purity ,pH , cauterant residua and content of heavy metal were measured and meet the quality standard prescribed.
