Only if we grasp regularity of drillability, can we select bit type and optimize parameters and increase drilling speed;.in this paper, The worldwide drilling conditions of deep well have been fully studied. Rock mechanics and key techniques in deep and ultra deep well was analyzed and discussed. The prospect of rock mechanics in deep and ultra deep well is set forth.Rock drillability of deep well bore and experiment of its mechanic parameters is studied. The correlativity between rock drillability and mechanic parameters is set up by laboratory experiment and analysis of drillability, elastic parameter, hardness and plasticity coefficient, and the correlative equation between rock drillability mechanic parameters is presented., which is basis of bit optimization and increasing drilling speed.Rock drillability under confining pressure of deep well bore is studied.The quantitative relation between rock mechanic parameters and confining pressure is set up by laboratory experiment. The calculating method of rock drillability under different confining pressures by analysis on rock drillability.The theory of rock drillability is applied deep well drilling in Daqing Oilfield and rock character in HTHP in this field is analyzed. The rock character in HTHP is applied in bit optimization. Test of two wells indicates that the drilling speed is increased by more than 0.2-0.5m/h.
