In this research, a kind of low-cost municipal wastewater treatment process, which consists of Hydrolysis, Anaerobic, micro-aerobic unit, is studied. The sequential Hydrolysis-Anaerobic process is researched in pilot scale, The results are as followings:In normal temperature(11-25℃), the sequential Hydrolysis- anaerobic process treating municipal wastewater, provides 50%COD and 80% SS removal at T > 20℃ and 36% COD and 70% SS at T=11℃, while the influent COD is 300±50 mg/l and HRT is 6.5 hours . The excess sludge production is very low .The discharge of sludge in hydrolysis tank and anaerobic tank is almost unnecessary in the experiment period. Furthermore, the sludge precipitability is very good. The integral hydrolysis-anaerobic-microaerobic process is studied in laboratory scale. In the micro-aerobic unit study special emphasis is put on the operation parameters and sludge precipitability. The results are as followings:(1) Total removal efficiencies of COD and SS is above 75%, 80% respectively at 19℃ and total HRT less than 8.5 hours(Hydrolysis tank, 2.5 hours, anaerobic tank, 4.0 hours, micro-aerobic tank, 2.0 hours) and the influent COD concentration at 300 ± 50 mg/l. The effluent COD, BOD, SS meets Class II of State Discharge Standard. It is proven that this process is feasible completely and has many advantages over present process.
