Sheet metal forming technology is changing with each passing day with the rapid development of information technology, plastic forming technology, automation technology and artificial intelligence(AI) technology. This paper takes circular cup which is a typical drawing workpiece as the research object and analyzes the variable blank-holding force (BHF) predication technology from the angle of mechanics distortion characteristic of circular cup deep drawing processs. The core technologies used are CAE simulation technology and Artificial Neural Network(ANN) technology. The main contents of this paper are as following:Firstly, the forming processs characteristic for circular cup deep drawing is analyzed. The mathematical models of rupture and wrinkling for the process of circular cup deep drawing are established. Then, the workpiece rupture and flange wrinkling critical BHF analytic expressions are obtained based on the mathematic models.Secondly, a sheet metal forming special FEM software Dynaform is adopted to simulate the process of circular cup deep drawing with different invariable BHF and difform variable BHF. The simulation results are analyzed and compared in details.Thirdly, a stamping technological parameters ANN model for BHF predication is built up on the basis of detailed analysis of influence factors of sheet metal forming critical BHF. The ANN model is trained. The simulation test results indicate that it has a better predicating effect and a higher precision.Fourthly, based on the ANN model for BHF predication, the optimum BHF predication system is developed by Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0 and MATLAB combined.Lastly, all the researches of the paper are summarized and what should do next is listed.
