This paper belongs to the project of preeminent youth fund of Si Chuan province (NO.03ZQ026-044) " The design and choice of special well tubal and pipelines" and is part of it.This paper aimed at pipeline's mechanic failure, used the strain theory of material,elasticity and plasticity mechanic and fracture mechanic methods, studied the theory of based on strain oil and gas transmission pipeline's design, and concluded that the material could be saved and the cost would be cut down using the theory. The main contents of the paper were as follows:(1) Retrived and perused the literature about oil and gas transmission pipeline's failure and design, and layed a rational research program and technology(2) Analysised the type and main reason of mechanic failure, derived the analytical model of covering soil stress and thermostress, researched the analytical model of residual stress and vibration stress of pipeline, and derived the computational methods of axial stress and wind stress of pipeline.(3) Analysised the type and form of mechanic failure, researched the criterions of ductility failure and temper failure, and the application condition, Analysised the stress-strain field, and established a stress-strain field model which suit for the study.(4) Studyed the analytical model of buried pipeline and suspending pipeline, introduced a factor about the redistribution of deflection and moment of suspending pipeline, rasied a analytical model between deflection and moment, showed that the deflection...
