In 1917, German chemists synthesized the firstsurfactant---- alkyl naphthalene sulfonates and laid thefoundation for surfactant development. From then on, surfactant industry has developed rapidly and a number of revolutionary changes have been undergone. Since 1990s, surfactant development has been heading towards nontoxic, harmless, high efficiency and natural ones. Nowadays, surfactants have been playing a very important role in all industrial fields and in the human daily life.As surfactant industry and other science and technology sectors are developing quickly and broadly, a variety of new surfactants with special functions have been developed and are appearing in a row. Its applicative fields are broadening.As an important part in national economy, the developing level of surfactant industry is regarded as an important mark in high-tech chemical industry, and a competitive force in the world. Non-ionic surfactant is an important branch in surfactants field. Its constructional uniqueness wins itself a special advantage in a variety of applicative fields.Polyglycerol fatty ester is one kind of non-ionic surfactant used widely in developed countries. It is a surfactant with multi-function, widely applicable in many fields.Through many years of development, polyglycerol fatty ester has widely gained applicative base and market system in China. However, the R&D level is still not high and industrial base is still weak. It is not only unable to match up with those in abroad, and its quality and properties can't meet the needs of many high-tech products.In order to develop high quality polyglycerol fatty ester, through changing the polymerization of glycerine and variety of fatty ester, two kinds of polyglycerol and ten different polyglycerol fatty ester products have been synthesized and produced, and the reaction conditions have been studied. The properties of the newly made polyglycerol fatty ester products were checked and measured. The results show that our products have reached to those of the highest standard of the domestic product and even to those of abroad products. Our work sets up a foundation for industrialization of polyglycerol fatty ester in our country in the future.
