| A series of antibacterial and absorbent acrylonitrile(AN)-vinylidene chloride (VDC)copolymer fibers were fabricated by adding micro- or nano-sized silver-impregnated activated carbon(Ag-AC)powders in AN-VDC copolymerdimethylformamide (DMF)solution;and then extruded through a spinneret into a coagulation bath of DMF-water.The wet-spun technology of AN-VDC copolymer fibers contain Ag-AC was studied.The influence elements,such as the spinning speed, draw ratio,coagulation bath and heat set,to the tensile strength of fibers were analysed in this study.The fibers containing less than 25wt%of Ag-AC were spun smoothly.The structure and properties of the fibers were characterized using differential scanning calorimeter(DSC),scanning electron microscopy(SEM), wide-angle X-ray diffraction and other universal test methods.The BET specific surface areas of the fibers were determined from nitrogen adsorption isotherms;and the absorbability was measured by methylene blue(MB)absorption.The results show that,the tensile strength of the fiber containing 20wt%Ag-AC is 1.3cN/dtex,and its strain is 30%.The BET specific surface area of this fiber is 198m2/g.The silver content was greater than 0.08wt%in the fibers,The AN-VDC copolymer fibers containing Ag-AC have appropriate tensile strength that can satisfy various application and can provide permanently antibacterial efficacy.It is a perfect antibacterial and absorbent fiber.The antibacterial and absorbent acrylonitrile(AN)-vinylidene chloride(VDC) copolymer fibers were used as base materials for preparing activated carbon fiber (ACF)by means of oxidation,carbonization,and activation in a continuous semi-open high temperature furnace.The activated carbon fibers prepared by PAN/VDC fibers of various contents of Ag-AC were studied.Scanning electron microscopy was used to observe the surface morphology of the ACFs.The BET specific surface areas of the ACFs were determined from N2 adsorption isotherms;and the absorbability was measured by methylene blue(MB)absorption.The results showed that the best way of stabilizing AN-VDC copolymer fibers contain Ag-AC is that the fibers were put into (NH4)3PO4/(NH4)2SO4(4:6/wt:wt)mixture solutions and then were hot-treated in muffle furnace at 250℃.The ACFs,which were prepared by carbonization and activation,have the BET specific surface areas by 385 m2/g and 0.246wt%of the silver content.The results showed that mixing proper quantity of Ag-AC into ACFs precursor can not only provide antibacterial property,but also increase the BET specific surface areas and production receiving rate.With no need to improve production process,the technology is simple and practical.The results showed that the ACFs prepared by PAN/PVDC fibers containing Ag-AC have greater favorable adsorbing ability.The silver content was greater than 0.24wt%in the ACFs,which can provide antibacterial efficacy. |
