| With the increasingly prosperity of the world economy and the rapid development of industry and agriculture, the three industrial waste: waste residue, waste gas, waste liquid and municipal waste solid have caused increasing serious pollution to the environment, especially to groundwater, it has become a prominent global environment problems. In addition, with the accelerated process of urbanization, more and more solid waste is produced, the arbitrary stack of municipal solid waste or mismanagement will lead to groundwater pollution, in particular landfill leachate. The emission and leakage of these polluting substances will cause serious groundwater pollution problem, and Permeable Reactive Barrier technology that is small investment, less ground disturbance, the complete disposal and the better ability to combine with other methods, is widely paid attention by scholars at home and abroad.This study sampled landfill leachate in the eastern outskirts landfill site of Kunming to be tested for simulating groundwater pollution, used iron powder, modified coal cinder, bentonite, activated carbon, zeolite, quartz sand and their mixture for reaction medium, by comparing experimental study, concluded the effectiveness of dealing with groundwater polluted by different pollutants using different materials, and explored economic and effective reaction medium, found the best media mix in the experimental study, and discussed its mechanism, Finally, introduced the design achievements of PRB abroad in hope of reference to our future PRB process design.The experiment results showed that the method using PRB reactor to deal with groundwater contaminated by landfill leachate is totally feasible. Different removal effect of pollutants varied with different reaction medium, the reduced Fe0 played well role in the removal of organic matter, its redox played an important role of transforming non-biodegradable and refractory organic to simple biodegradable organic, and improved the biodegradability of organic pollutants. The adsorption of modified coal cinder to organic matter removal also yielded good results, and ion exchange of zeolite had good effect on the control of ammonia nitrogen pollution.By exploring the removal mechanism of reaction medium used reduced iron powder, modified coal cinder and activated carbon for pollutants, the results showed that the removal rate of pollutants by three reaction medium adsorption had some correlations with the reaction time, and its adsorption concentration have emerged in first-order reaction with reaction time.PRB technology not only had a good efficiency on pollutant removal, its operating costs are significantly lower than the current P&T technology, to less-affluent countries like our country, using PRB technology to control groundwater pollution should be feasible . |
