During the process of wastewater treatment, the flocculation is one of very common and economical techniques, one of the important units and sometimes it is indispensable in water treatment. The objects of flocculation are hydrophobic colloid and suspended particles made of water-fast material. The flocculant is the key of this technique and its properties influence directly flocculation efficiency. In order to wipe off the suspended solid and colloid in water, a great number of organic and inorganic flocculants have been synthesized. However, most of them are expensive. micro-toxic and the residual sludge is hard to dispose, which is an important source of second pollution. The development of new and highly effective flocculant is the core of the technology- that optimizes flocculation process, and is also a project on which researchers in environmental science concentrate.New water treatment agents with high efficiency, low ecological risk and low-cost are urgently required in water supply and wastewater treatment in China. Novel flocculants and adsorbents were prepared and applied to wastewater treatment, aimed to substitute high ecological risk products in traditional flocculants market and to provide a low-cost of heavy metal absorbent.Safe Ecotype flocculation is studied in this article. On basis of keeping up CMC's inherent properties, the structure of CMC is modified in part with physical and chemical method, thus the character of CMC is changed and synthesize CMC-iron salt new compound flocculant is made. This is a new category of inorganic-natural organic polymer flocculant. This flocculant have been focused to study because of its high flocculent effect, low price, low ecological risk and widely application in various water processes. A synthesize CMC-iron salt new compound flocculant is selected in this paper based on the premise that the research progress in the flocculants and their application in water treatment in recent years are introduced. The paper analyzes the flocculation effect of synthesize CMC-iron salt new compound flocculant which is used respectively in kaolin sample. Adopt carboxymethylcellulose(CMC) material to carry on an improvement to the iron salt (FeCl3) water processing flocculant, synthesize CMC-iron salt new compound flocculant, and use the upper level clear liquid of precipitated 2g/L aqueous dispersion of kaolin earth to determine removal efficiency and optimize reaction conditions. Result shows that under the conditions of quality ratio of FeCl3 to CMC 1:2; quality ratio of CMC to NaOH 1:2 chemical bath temperature 55℃; and chemical bath time 5h etc new compound flocculant's flocculating effect is the best. Result shows that the optimal dose is 40μL/L, being applicable to treat alkaline wastewater, with 40-50℃favorable water temperature and 50 NTU turbidities. In the same dosage, wastewater treatment is more effective than the precursor FeCl3 and CMC.The experimental results indicate that synthesize CMC-iron salt new compound flocculant has excellent flocculating effect in water treatment. With the development of synthesize CMC-iron salt new compound flocculant and improvement of the product exploitation technique, its disposal ability in water treatment is improved gradually. In a word, synthesize CMC-iron salt new compound flocculant can be used as a kind of promising inorganic-natural organic polymer flocculant in water treatment.
