The "1+4" Hot Tandem Rolling Line adopted proven, advanced aluminums strip hot rolling technique in the world of today. It is an only new-built hot tandem rolling line among the world aluminums fabrication fields in recent 10 years. The construction of this line has filled a vacancy that there's no hot tandem rolling technology in China's aluminums fabrication industry. It provides tremendous motivation to the progress of China's aluminums fabrication facilities and technology. But running deviation often occurs on the hot finishing mill, especially rolling ultra-thin strip which is below 5 millimeters. Running deviation not only results in instability of product line, but also directly influences the output of rolling process, quality of product, life of equipment and so on. And it also affects the normal process of coiling. So it is important to study the problem of running deviation.Firstly running deviation is studied by using variation method. Taking rolling region as research object, the transverse distribution of the entry and exit thickness is simulated with the unsymmetrical function. At the same time rolling deviation is used. The function of mental lateral displacement at exit is derived from Euler differential equation by the minimum potential energy principle. It is a case of unsymmetricalness. At last the value of running deviation is calculated, and the variation rule is primarily discussed.Some factors are simplified reasonably for the variation method. But it will naturally affect the precision of the result. To solve this problem another way is used by considering as many factors as possible. At the same time the combined friction theory and plastic yield criterion are referred to. Finally the numerical solution is obtained by using Powell method which is based on minimum potential energy principle.The simulation of the "1+4" Hot Tandem Rolling Line is carried out by using the theory obtained from this paper. After its results' comparison to some related document, we can conclude the correctness of the theory in this paper. Then the relationship between tension and mental lateral displacement is studied, which means by changing the forth tension, back tension and the difference of tension to discuss the rule of running deviation and spread, and finally comes to a reasonable tension system. And the value of practice is in this range. So it can work as a reference in the control of the tension during real rolling process.
