| 2-Ethylhexanoic Acid has a wide range of uses, mainly used as paint and printing ink driers, gasoline additives, metal lubricants, preparation of medicines and spices, etc. At present, China's demand for 2-Ethylhexanoic Acid tremendous growth. And the traditional high-pressure synthesis way requires the too high to the equipments, the aldehyde oxidation was impacted largely by the upper price. In this paper, 2-Ethylhexanoic acid is prepared by reacting 2-Ethylhexanol with sodium hydroxide in the presence of alkali-earth metal catalyst under the condition of atmosphere, which could offer the support for the practical application of the industrialized.To solve the problems of high reaction temperature and pressure, or the use of precious metal catalyst in the way of making 2-Ethylhexanoic acid, we use a serials of suitable catalysts in the atmospheric pressure and low temperature, so that a relatively mild reaction conditions to obtain good results. Under the same process conditions, conversion and selectivity, the rate of hydrogen release were investigated and regarded as the evaluation index of the activation and stability of catalyst. The preparation conditions of the catalysts and process conditions of 2-Ethylhexanoic acid were optimized respectively.Catalysts of single compound were prepared by coprecipitation method, then select proper catalysts of single compound to obain the mixture compounds. And the Catalyst type, compound ratio of activator, calcination time and temperature were investigated to find the better conditions.During the way of making 2-Ethylhexanoic acid, the influence of the ratio of 2-Ethylhexanol and sodium hydroxide, the consumption of catalysts, reaction temperature were investigated, which lay a better foundation for the industrialization of 2-Ethylhexanoic acid. |
