This paper aims at synthesizing five series of 29 Phthalocyanine transition metal complexes and researching on their catalytic effect on the lithium/thionyl chloride battery.A series of metal phthalocyanine complexes, such as MPcTb(M=Mn(Ⅱ),Fe(Ⅲ),Fe(Ⅱ),Co(Ⅱ),Ni(Ⅱ),Cu(Ⅱ),Zn(Ⅱ)),MPcBpBb(M=Mn(Ⅱ),Fe(Ⅱ),Co(Ⅱ),Ni(Ⅱ),Cu(Ⅱ),Cr(Ⅲ)),MPcBpZBb(M=Mn(Ⅱ),Fe(Ⅱ),Co(Ⅱ),Ni(Ⅱ),Cu(Ⅱ),Cr(Ⅲ)),M2(PcHb)2(M =Mn(Ⅱ),Fe(Ⅱ),Co(Ⅱ),Ni(Ⅱ),Cu(Ⅱ)) and M2(PcHb)2C(M=Mn(Ⅱ),Fe(Ⅱ),Co(Ⅱ),Ni(Ⅱ),Cu(Ⅱ)),are synthesized by microwave and characterized by IR,UV-Vis,TGA and elemental analysis.Electrical properties of these metal phthalocyanine complexes have been characterized as a lithium/thionyl chloride battery cathode catalyst. The effects of these phthalocyanine complexes on the discharged voltage and the discharged time of Li/SOCl2 battery are investgated.Besides, the effects of the central metal ions, ligands and substituents on the catalytic properties of the battery are also characterized. The adding of the phthalocyanine complexes can prolong the discharge time of Li/SOCl2 battery to approximately above 20%. The voltage can be increased by 0.02~0.2 V and the actual battery capacity can also be raised by 20~50%.Different metal ions of the same series of phthalocyanines have different catalytic activities. As is shown by the experiment, the phthalocyanine compounds whose center ions are Mn(Ⅱ),Fe(Ⅱ),Co(Ⅱ) have the excellent catalytic performance. That's because the oxidation-reducation process of these phthalocyanine complexes of Mn(Ⅱ),Fe(Ⅱ),Co(Ⅱ) occur in the central metal ion.But the phthalocyanine complexes whose center ions are Fe(Ⅲ),Cu(Ⅱ),Zn(Ⅱ) have poor catalytic performance because their oxidation-reducation process occur in the phthalocyanine cycle.
