The reaction of partial oxidation of methane is an important way of natural gas directly into the preparation of high value-added chemical raw materials, which is important for the comprehensive utilization of natural gas resources. In the study of the partial oxidation reaction of methane, The development of novel catalysts is the key. Until now, it has the most industrialized future with iodine as a catalyst system in oleum in the liquid phase of partial oxidation of methane reaction. However, there are some problems in industrial enlarge existing.Such as fuming sulfuric acid under high temperature equipment for corrosive solvent, fuming sulfuric acid and catalyst recycling and product separation and other issues. Therefore, this paper presents SO3 system to replace SO3 fuming sulfuric acid system. First of all, iodine catalyst, the transition metal catalysts was investigated in in the liquid phase of SO3 system, and the free radical reactions of methane was done by using of a peroxide. At the same time, different processing conditions on methane partial oxidation reaction were studied. Then, a methane gas-phase catalytic oxidation experiments was done. Finally, the reaction mechanism for all types were discussed. In the result of the catalyst research, the catalysts of I2, V2O5 were selected . heteropoly acid catalyst of vanadium and V2O5/Al2O3 catalyst were made. And the specific surface area, pore volume and pore size, TG characterization of the V2O5/Al2O3 catalyst were analyzed, the composition, structure and so on of a catalys were obtained. In the aspect of the reaction mechanism, the proposed series of iodine compounds and transition metal catalysts for methane catalytic partial oxidation reaction belong to the electrophilic substitution reaction mechanism; peroxide-induced oxidation of methane belong to the free radical reaction mechanism.
