The Fast-growing Wood In Modern Furniture Design, Applied Research

Fast growing wood is closely linked with human life and also plays an important role in the process of the development of material civilization.Nowadays with the plight of the over-consumption of natural resources and the worsening of our living environment,the proper application of the fast growing wood in modern furniture will have the different significance and value than before.In this paper,firstly the application of fast growing wood furniture in ancient times was briefly described to illustrate that the fast growing wood furniture was not only used in the oldest furniture materials,but also in the potential modern materials.On an ecological point of view,the fast growing wood was re-understood in the material properties aspect.Bamboo,rattan and water hyacinth were as examples to elaborate the natural,cultural ecological significance of the fast growing wood.Taking bamboo,rattan and water hyacinth as examples,our study analyzed the present situation of the development,utilization and the regeneration of resources,then discussed how to treat the development and utilization of fast growing wood resources correctly.Then the probability and the diversified ways of the fast growing wood used in modern furniture were raised basing on the investigation and analysis of the raw material processing technology and the application mode of the traditional and modern technology in furniture of the fast growing wood,such as bamboo,rattan and water hyacinth.On the basis of these,the shapes and the construction forms of the fast growing wood furniture were summarized,otherwise the research on the concrete applications of the traditional and modern technology in furniture of the fast growing wood was carried out.Finally,Combining with the anterior research on application in modern furniture of fast growing wood,this study also tried to put forward the basic view on the development and design of fast growing wood furniture and the development direction of the fast growing wood in future furniture.
