Sheet metal forming is a very important plastic working technology, which has been widely used in industrial domains, and is also one of the advanced manufacturing technologies. During the processing of sheet metal forming, Blank Holder Force(BHF) is a key factor that affects forming quality, therefore the control system of BHF are always the focus. Taking the hydraulic press as the object, some researches about control technology of BHF have been done in this paper, and relevant control system is also designed. The main content of the paper is:1. Based on function requirements and the hydraulic press, the overall structure of BHF control system is given. The analysis of hydraulic which is used in control system of sheet metal forming is also demonstrated, including the selection of power section's parameters, the analysis of hydraulic feature, the analysis of hydraulic circuit and type selection of key elements.2. For accurate control of BHF, Fuzzy-PID is used. Based on further study of Fuzzy-PID, the whole system is designed in detail. Simulation is done in MATLAB/Simulink, which proves the control system works perfectly.3. The realization of BHF control system is investigated, of which the hardware structural design and type selection have been done, and also the PLC and host computer monitoring system are given.
