Flame retardant is one of an important additional agent of synthesis macromolecule material.After inflaming retarding process,synthesis macromolecule material has some attribute such as fire retardant, self-extinguishing and smoke eliminating which can prevent material combustion or delay the fire to extend.As the fireproofing and safety standard are more and more strict,and with the fast growth output of plastics,the global output of flame retardant were increased gradually. According to chemical component,flame retardant is divided into inorganic flame retardant and organic flame retardant,synthesis macromolecule material added with inorganic flame retardant has much more attribute as smoking inhibit,preventing HCL production,and with some merit such as nontoxicity,noncorrosive,lower price,etc..Lower water zinc borate(ZB-2335) is a high quality solid inorganic flame retardant with excellent inflaming retarding and smoke eliminating function,It was released crystallization water at 300℃,produce boron halide,zinc halide with halide compound,inhibit and capture dissociate hydroxide radical,prevent chain combustion reaction,and finally form solid phase covered layer,separate surface air of the combustion material, prevent flame combustion.This paper studied microwave heated lower water zinc borate (ZB-2335)process with material borax and zinc sulfate,four factors influence to ZnO%/B2O3 were inspected which include reaction temperature,liquid solid ratio,microwave radiation period,microwave power at the orthogonal test.The test result indicate that:at temperature 85℃,liquid-solid ratio 3:0:1,microwave radiation period 50 min, microwave power 650W,lower water zinc borate(ZB-2335) with common grain diameter 10.17 um could be produced,and the yield reached 99.18%.At the same time,XRD diffraction and hot analysis show that,XRD diffraction diagram can inosculate with the standard diagram of lower water zinc borate(ZB-2335),heat analysis show that product dehydrate temperature close to the theoretic dehydrate temperature of lower water ZB-2335.This paper also explored the flame retardancy of synthesis zinc borate(ZB-2335)in PVC and PP at the best test condition,the flame retardancy evaluation of lower water zinc borate(ZB-2335) adopted some indicants such as LOI,SRD,and portrait combustion grade at the PVC and PP which added with zinc borate.Experiment product ZB-2335 possess LOI raising,SDR decreasing effect,and as the added amount increased,LOI growth gradually,SRD decreased gradually.As the added amount reached 14 g,LOI reached 38.5,SRD reached 72.5,so the flame retardant's result was excellent.Experiment product ZB-2335 assess LOI increase and SDR decreasing effect to PP,as the added amount increased, LOI growth gradually,SRD decreased gradually,at the contents reached 15%,product reached UL94V-0 grade.The SRD of the flame retardant polypropylene show that,ZB-2335 is an excellent smoke eliminating agent,it could decreased smoking release amount with non any environment pollution.ZB-2335 flame retardant material posses lower smoking,no fused drop in combustion as its excellent inflaming retarding and smoking suppress effect.
