There are a few defects in existing processes of biomass gasification, for example using air as gasifying medium, N2 and tar content of the gas is high, and the calorific value is as low as 5000kJ/N in3. The technology of a circulating fluidized bed is still tentative at laboratory level. Through direct pyrolyze biomass, we can get product gas with high heating value (l4000kJINm3), but gas yield ratio is low (O.35m3/kg). According to these conditions, we put forward a new biomass gasification technology 桞iomass pyrolysis gasification on solid bed with steam as gasifying medium (SOB) and we do some experimental studies. With Eupotorium adenophorurn and cigarette residue as materials, we get the product gas with heating value of 8318.11 kg/rn3 and 9370.63kJ/m3. The gas yield ratio is 1.26m3/kg and 1.23m3/kg respectively with gasifying efficiency of 61.7% and 65.9%. The results are satisfactory. Steam is used as gasifying medium on solid bed in SBG technology. The new technology has certain characteristics: simple and well-designed equipment; easy operation; product gas with high heating value; moderate gas yield ratio and so on. This technology provides economical equipment of gas source for rural areas or towns. Prospect is bright for this new technology to popularize.
