With the development of power system, the development of relay protection is very fast and becomes more and more complicated. Therefore, strengthening the relay operation worker's technique training, and their operational and manage level are benefit to improve the security, stability, reliability and economy of the power system. So it is very important to develop simulation training system of relay protection.In this paper, a universal and extendable relay protection training system based on CAI and object-oriented technology is developed. It assembled dispersive and isolated training functions into one uniform multimedia protection training system with the "system-subsystem-cell" three-hierarchical structure. And the system utilizes the existing network sources of power supply corporations sufficiently and gives the students mutual simulating train by network and multimedia to make the reasonable resources configuration into reality. It is a distributed teaching and training system adapting for power supply corporation disposing and power protection operating process well. The system makes use of modular programming technology for all functions of relay protection and has implemented action behavior simulation and debugging simulation of relay protection which provides a vivid simulating circumstance for users.To the concrete relay protection, the paper set up the class model of relay element, Regard the whole movement course of relay protection as a whole, base on relay protection logic graph, regard relay component as the movements simulation target , regard movement characteristic of relay component as the criterion, judge the reasonable model state of each relay component in different state through the network topology analyse, set up component model interface, regard movement simulation course as interactive system that relay component make up, thus realize real relay protection movement complete course simulation. This kind of experiment method is flexible, convenient and effective. It enables user to change the structure of the relay protection and the type of faults ect, check the time and logic cooperate relation of relay protection element.The multimedia training software, designed in this paper, has many advantages such as complete structure, self-contained functions, excellent interactive performance, and rational organizing form for training information, vivid navigation and strong pertinence for multimedia material. Now, the training software has been delivered to the company in use. The training software is proved to have excellent practical value and training effect. Therefore, strengthening the relay operation worker's technique training, and their operational and manage level are benefit to improve the security, stability, reliability and economy of the powersystem.
