| Objective:To observe the Diabetes with ocular surface damage characteristics and the incidence of diabetes and the relationship between common dry eye Based on these to explore the disease-related factors and pathogenesis characterized by and to rise to the attention of patients and health care workers and to guide clinical treatment. Methods:50 patients with diabetes and 20 cases of dry eye patients were conducted a questionnaire survey and objective examination related to eye signs. Observe the differences between the two groups of the subjective symptoms, Schirmer I Test(SIT), tear film break-up time(BUT), corneal staining(FL) and corneal sensitivity to explore diabetes risk factors which can cause dry eye, symptom characteristics and pathogenesis of conversion. Result: Diabetic group was 84% incidence of dry eye syndrome. The subjective symptoms were lighter than the control group (p<0.05)and the corneal sensitivity decreased was more serious(p<0.05) and the rate of diminish was higher(x2=12.6, p<0.05). The reduction of SIT was related to the course of disease and a negative linear correlation with DR level and has nothing to do with blood sugar and TCM Syndrome. The shortening of BUT was a negative linear correlation with the course of disease and corneal sensitivity and has nothing to do with blood sugar DR level and TCM Syndrome. The FL score was a positive linear correlation with the course of disease and corneal sensitivity and has nothing to do with blood sugar DR level and TCM Syndrome. Conclusion:Diabetes Mellitus can cause ocular surface damage which expresses as dry eye, eye itching and eye symptoms of foreign body sensation, etc. The objective examination showed that the SIT reduced and the BUT was shortening and the FL was positive rate. The damages were related to with the duration of diabetes, DR and other factors. At the same time I found that the deficiency of yin and yang can also occur dry eye symptoms. Its symptoms were more pronounced than the other two types of Qi and Yin Deficiency and Hot Sheng Yin. |
