Objective:To study the correlation between CT values and bone mineral density (BMD) of spongy bone in lumbar vertebral body and evaluate the feasibility to determine the bone mineral density by using CT values.Methods:80 patients including the young(Less than or equal to 50 years old) and older(More than 50 years old)groups were included in our study. BMD and the same level CT values of spongy bone of lumbar vertebral body were measured. Correlation analysis was employed to reveal the relationship between CT values and BMD in two groups. Results:The CT values of spongy bone of lumbar vertebral body were positively correlated with the BMD, namely, the higher BMD was, the higher CT value was in both group (r1=0.965, p<0.001; r2=0.981, p<0.001)Conclusion: CT values of lumbar vertebral body were significantly correlated with their BDM, we can elvalulate BMD by using CT values.
