Abstract:Objective:Observing the changes of the material serum levels of activin A (ACTA), inhibin A(INHA), follistatin(FS) and leukemia inhibitory factor(LIF) in women with preeclampsia(PE) to understand their roles in patients with PE. Method:Serum samples of 40 women with PE (study group) and 40 normal pregnant women (NP) (control group) were collected from October 2008 to October 2009 in Department of Obstetric of the Affiliated Hospital of LuZhou Medical College. The diagnostic and classified standards of PE were in accordance with Obstetrics and Gynecology (edited by Le Jie, the seventh edition).4ml elbow vein blood was respectively collected from all experimental subjects with empty stomachs. The blood of pregnant women with PE was collected before therapy. Serum was separated and kept in ultra-low temperature fridge to detect. ACTA,INHA,FS and LIF levels in material serum were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) (Experimental operating fully according to the instruction). Measured values were indicated by means±S.D (x±s). The results were analyzed using Independent-Sample t or t' Test and Pearson Correlation Test by SPSS 14.0 statistic software. There was a statistical significance at the 0.05 level. Result: (1)The levels of ACTA,INHA,FS and LIF in material serum are respectively 13.67±1.85ng/ml,48.13±3.59ng/l,20.98±5.30μg/1,755.85±38.95ng/l in normal pregnant women(control group), and are 28.49±6.98ng/ml,79.60±19.06 ng/1,12.57±7.37μg/l,684.73±79.90 ng/l in women with PE. Compared with normal pregnancy group, in PE the material serum levels of ACTA and INHA were significantly increased P<0.05 (t=2.57, P=0.02; t=2.35,P=0.03), but the levels of FS and LIF were significantly reduced P<0.05 (t=2.107,p=0.04; t=2.114, P=0.04). (2) Correlation analyses showed that:in pregnant women with PE, the levels of maternal serum ACTA and INHA were in positive connection with mean arterial pressure (MAP) P<0.001 (r=0.833,P<0.001; r=0.759, P<0.001), but FS or LIF was irrelevant to MAP P>0.05 (r=-0.022,P=0.892; r=-0.142,P=0.381). Conclusion:(1) The maternal serum levels of ACTA and INHA in pregnant women with PE were significantly higher than that in normal pregnant women, and which had a positive connection with MAP in pregnant women with PE. Maternal serum levels of ACTA and INHA were closely associated with the degree of the seriousness of PE. (2) The levels of maternal serum FS and LIF in pregnant women with PE were significantly lower than that in normal pregnant women, and their levels had no connection with MAP in pregnant women with PE. (3) ACTA, INHA, FS and LIF concentrations changes abnormally in PE. They could act on cytotrophoblast cells and affect its function, which maybe get involved pathogenic process of PE. But for their function in pathogenic process of PE, and the clinic significations for test the levels of ACTA, INHA, FS and LIF in first and second pregnancy, should be further studied.
