As a traditional old art, mural develops according to the function and object it serves. Because of its peculiarity, it always hangs outside of the essential aspect of art, and it is marginal.The mural art has a history of thousands of years. Nowadays, as the economy and culture develop quickly, the mural art is no longer a single plastic arts, on the contrary, it comes to be a synthetically art and has its own style. The mural art cannot be separated from the public environment, thus it is a public art. It relies on building environment and has to be highly harmony with the building style. Since public place of a city embodies spirit, mural can be the platform for people's spirit communication. What's more, it is the magnetic field which attracts people and gives people good memory. The public environmental art is constituted by material factors and human culture, and it is an important factor of the characteristic of a city. The mass public art which depends on outdoor public environment engenders as a city develops. By special art style, it is dissolved into modern people's idea, emotion, therefore bridges between human being and public environment.Modern mural is a art combined by material and technology. Material is the foundation, and artists use it as the mean of displaying their arts. Different kinds of materials are necessary, therefore, it is necessary for us to study how new materials can play their parts.In the new millennium, how to develop the mural art is a new tusk. The life of mural art lies in its times and people. Mural art is popular, and it is face to face with thousands of people. And it should express people's good spirit. As mural art is environmental art, it is a new challenge for us to study the independent relationship of mural art and environment, to study how to form creative thinking and to create more prominent mural arts which depend on public environmental art.
