| Art symbol of Ru-Yi Pattern during the Wei-Jin Dynasty and North-South Dynasty period manifests the theme of auspiciousness which means'good luck and happiness'. It also reflects the best wishes of people longing for better life. Ru-Yi Pattern shows people's intense psychological demand in the turbulent environment of the Wei-Jin Dynasty and North-South Dynasty period.This thesis makes an elaborative study on three origins of Ru-Yi Pattern and demonstrates that the traditional Chinese Ru-Yi Pattern was derived from the whorl pattern of the Majiayao Culture. This thesis also makes a deep study of the evolvement of Ru-Yi Pattern and classifies it into three important periods: initial stage, developing stage and mature stage. It also analyses two main branches of the development of Ru-Yi Pattern——Zhi-Wu Ru-Yi Pattern and Yun-Qi Ru-Yi Pattern, makes a further study of the signifier of Ru-Yi Pattern and makes a detailed classification of Ru-Yi Pattern in the Wei-Jin Dynasty and North-South Dynasty through the study of various kinds of carriers. It also discusses the typical development feature of Ru-Yi Pattern in the Wei-Jin Dynasty and North-South Dynasty——combination of the framework structure with Juan-Cao Ru-Yi Pattern; Juan-Cao Ru-Yi Pattern derived from Yun-Qi Ru-Yi Pattern and Yun-Qi Ru-Yi Pattern. It reveals the structural characteristics of Juan-Cao Ru-Yi Pattern and Yun-Qi Ru-Yi Pattern. Meanwhile, it carries out mathematic analysis of the framework of the two patterns, elaborates the signified feature of Ru-Yi Pattern and proposes that people use the decoration of Ru-Yi Pattern as psychological expression to demonstrate their good wills. This thesis makes a collection and classification of the application of Ru-Yi Pattern in modern design. It further investigates the application of Ru-Yi Pattern in modern design in terms of contour, meaning and art spirits, and also tries to find a solution to the combination of traditional graphics and modern design. |
